Welcome to the NATURESCAPES Analytical Platform: an interactive tool for exploring factors shaping nature-based solutions (NBS) implemented across 12 Functional Urban Areas (FUA) worldwide. The platform enables users to investigate how different factors, such as governance arrangements, financing structures, implementation approaches, spatial scales, and stakeholder configurations, shape the outcomes of urban NBS. Through interactive filtering and comparison functions, users can explore relationships between project characteristics, address urban challenges, target groups, and socio-environmental impacts across diverse urban contexts.
Developed within the NATURESCAPES project and integrated into the Urban Nature Atlas (UNA), the platform aims to support the exploration of NBS assemblages, sets of nature-based interventions operating within shared urban contexts. By enabling the comparison of multiple projects within and across Functional Urban Areas, users can examine how different combinations of interventions, their implementation strategies, and governance structures influence broader socio-environmental outcomes and bring on transformative potential.
The profile of the individual NBS cases collected for the NATURESCAPES project can be found here.
The analytical report providing a summary of the findings can be downloaded here.
A deeper analysis to explore relationships between NBS and NBS assembly profiles, NBS scores, and implications for social justice and equity based on social indicators will be completed by the end of 2026.
