An ongoing extensive expansion of park Lauta in Plovdiv has been carried out. The primary nature-based means used in the project is tree planting. However, animals were also introduced to the habitat. The project aims at creating a suitable place for recreation, purifying the air of Plovdiv, and enriching the park's fauna (Ref. 2; Ref. 3; Ref. 7).

Project objectives

Implementation activities

- Prior to the project, citizens were consulted face-to-face, and through a survey with 60 respondents, to get an idea of the largest issues in the park that needed to be addressed. - Planting trees - Building grey infrastructure, sports facilities, and playgrounds - In 2015, 50 pheasants were introduced to the park, donated by hunters.(Ref. 1; Ref. 2; Ref. 7). "Currently, the greenery with an area of ​​about 420 acres has the status of a forest , but with the ongoing afforestation actions, Lauta Park is about to become one of the largest urban green spaces in the country" (Ref. 7, 2015). -"...іn rесеnt уеаrѕ thе grееnеrу аt Lаutа hаѕ bееn іnсrеаѕеd bу 80 dесаrеѕ, іn whісh mоrе thаn 2,500 nеw trееѕ hаvе bееn рlаntеd аnd аn іrrіgаtіоn ѕуѕtеm hаѕ bееn buіlt. Fоr dесаdеѕ, оnе оf thе оldеѕt раrkѕ іn Рlоvdіv hаѕ bееn nеglесtеd, but іn thе lаѕt еіght уеаrѕ mаnу thіngѕ hаvе bееn dоnе іn іt rеlаtеd tо іtѕ ѕосіаlіzаtіоn аnd turnіng іt іntо а fаvоrіtе рlасе fоr rесrеаtіоn аnd ѕроrtѕ оf Рlоvdіv rеѕіdеntѕ" (Ref. 10, 2020). There is also a "proposal for the expansion of Lauta Park by 32 decares to the east to the executors of the amendment to the General Development Plan of Plovdiv" (Ref. 10, 2020).
