The project has the goal to promote volunteering related to environmental protection. The community-based initiative involves disabled people to implement the intervention - with the supervision of specific tutors - to prove that they can be an active part of the population. Activities included taking care of several green areas and implementation of social horticulture gardens. (Ref.1.)

Project objectives
(1) promote volunteering practices through the theme of the environment.
(20 increased focus of the population on living conditions and environment, starting from the action of citizens and promoting the role of disabled people for the community (Ref.1.)
Implementation activities
In order to reach the goals, the following activities were implemented:
- care of public green,
- creation of social gardens,
- involvement of citizens, not only into civic engagement’s issue but also into the frame of the promotion of volunteering and social inclusion. The disabled citizens will be in charge of planting seeds and taking care of the cultivation process, by watering the terrain and taking care of the well-being of the plants(Ref.1.)

Details on the roles of the organisations involved in the project
The main promoter of the project is the non-profit association "Associazione Uniamoci Onlus", which coordinates it. The main partners are Ceipes – Centro Internazionale per la Promozione Dell’educazione e Lo Sviluppo, Centro di Solidarieta’ Don Giosue’ Bonfardino, Silene Cooperativa A.R.L - non-profit companies as well -. The project is financed by Fondazione per il Sud, a non-profit association operating from Rome. The municipality of Palermo supports the initiative by granting the areas for cultivation. Finally, citizens are in charge to cultivate the area (Ref.1.)
