Hanken School of Economics has placed green walls on its campus in Helsinki. The walls are placed in libraries and group rooms where students spend long periods of time to provide better air quality (ref, 2). The NaturVention (now known as Naava) patented active green walls are claimed to filter air 100 times more effectively than regular indoor plants (ref. 3). With pure and fresh Naava air, it is claimed that people can focus on their day, while Naava takes care of their air (ref. 5).
Overview

Creation of new green areas
Project objectives
1. To improve indoor air quality at the Hanken campus in Helsinki (ref. 3)
2. To test a unique technology that allows the remotely controlled green wall system to purify indoor air with remarkable efficiency (ref. 1)
3. To improve the students’ conditions for studying (ref. 3)
Implementation activities
Place Active Green walls, patented by Naturvention (or Naava) at the Hanken campus in Helsinki at indoor areas where students spend much time. The air is drawn through the roots of the plants, where it is treated with microbes, after which the air is pushed back to the room with fans. The wall also monitors air quality and sends the information to Naava's wireless cloud-service to collect data and regulate the functions of the wall (e.g. humidity levels) remotely (ref. 3).
