La Tiretaine is a river in Clermont-Ferrand which, in the past, was harnessed to run underground in order to address hygiene concerns and create more land for construction and industrial purposes (Ref. 5). Rehabilitation efforts have been made throughout the city in order to 'renature' the river. Efforts include the creation of a small park along the river near the school Saint-Alyre in 2008 (Ref. 1) as well as a vision to develop a park surrounding a section of the river by 2026 (Ref. 4).

Project objectives

-Main goal is to rehabilitate the Tiretaine river to protect and enhance this natural heritage. Implementation activities

-"The square Bompart was created with children's playground, bench and a little greenery." (Ref. 1) -"A wheel was made by the students of a professional high school of Clermont Ferrand. It reminds us of the presence of old mills in the Auvergne capital. Before its transformation into green zone this district of Clermont was occupied by Mill Saint Georges." -"After years of studies ... and floods, the metropolis has opted for an innovative solution: a storm basin which should be much more than a simple reservoir: a floodable park in fact which, outside stormy periods , would be a green setting for the neighborhood" (Ref. 4). market relocation: "destruction of the existing building in 2025 and the reconstruction of a new one of equivalent size (without cessation of activity) around fifty meters further, on an infrequently used soccer field".
