Project objectives
The aim of the project was to increase the aesthetics of the space through natural elements as well as to improve the usability of the park to the residents. The objectives included,
(a) designing the architecture of the park to respect the maximum extent possible keeping the existed state of high vegetation and the main pedestrian routes in the park.
(b) reconstruction of the park, unifying surfaces, reducing the area of paved surfaces and thus create more space for green areas.
(c) provide wider sidewalks, and to offer possibilities for relaxation and meditation. The proposal was entirely conceived of by the designer to preserve existed greenery as much as possible.
(d)introduce an irrigation system to reduce maintenance costs associated with regular watering during the hot summer months. (1)
Implementation activities
The first step in the reconstruction work was to making clean spaces, where workers remove dry, inclined, weak and congested bushes and trees. Work in the good weather was supposed to last until the end of November 2014. The grassy part of the park was restored by workers by seeding and laying sod. Workers restored the grassy parts of the park by sowing and laying grass carpets. The irrigation system was connected to an existing well to reduce the maintenance costs associated with regular watering during the hot summer months. (1, 3, 8)
